I am happy you have found your way to the Science Education website at the University of Northern Iowa. Science education at UNI is an interdepartmental, intercollege unit comprised of faculty teaching in four science content departments in the College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences (CHAS) including, biology, chemistry and biochemistry, earth science and physics, as well as faculty who teach in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and the Department of Teaching in the College of Education.
Science Education within the CHAS:
has 2 integrated secondary science teaching majors and a science minor for elementary education majors
offers 3 Liberal Arts Core science courses especially designed for elementary education majors
teaches all of the secondary science methods courses
has a Master of Arts in Science Education
is involved in LOTS of teacher professional development and student outreach
has a science curriculum materials center called the UNI Science Education Resource Center (SERC) that includes science kits that can be checked out by K-8 science teachers
